SGAE raises 22.500 euros on average in the Fair thanks to "tax the sevillanas"
The music we listen and dance ,both recorded and live, April Fair in Seville has its price and is not exactly cheap. Much of the fairground booths have to pay the SGAE (SGAE). Protected by the Intellectual Property Law, It has come to raise some 22.500 euros in recent years, in respect of the royalties generated by playing their repertoire of music in the Feria de Abril. Although we consider a fairly high figure, SGAE considers that figure “symbolic” against the great economic benefit to the city with the Fair. the impact resulted last year in 800 millions of euros.
Of the 1.052 there stands this year at the Fair, 521 They are considered by the City Council as family houses, 511 as entities (neighborhood associations, unions, rocks or groups, political parties and etc.), There are six booths and eleven districts dedicated to various services. Also, There are three other municipal houses, including the dugout Area Major Festivals. SGAE raises its rates among entities booths, whether public or not, including municipal. The company takes the "Sevillanas tax" on all stands less in family: the 50% of the total.
Partners booths are not happy with this tax. They do not want to have to ask permission to acclimate their booths by SGAE, and they do not want to be held accountable. He is considered a revolutionary and unreasonable tax, plus a "double taxation" since they consider covered the rights of authors to pay the cache artists flocking to the booths.
