The cover
With it, Alés has given the starting signal to the assembly of a cover for the April Fair 2025 which has as its protagonist the Chilean Pavilion of the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. This emblematic neo-pre-Columbian Art Deco cataloging building was designed by Juan Martínez Gutiérrez in 1927, It is the current headquarters of the Seville School of Art.
The cover, designed by architect Pablo Escudero Gispert, It is inspired by this fundamental building of the exhibition of the 29 next to the Guadalquivir river, the San Telmo Palace and the Lope de Vega Theater.
In the same way, The delegate has highlighted the role of the Chilean Pavilion in the history of Seville, “icon of the neo-pre-Columbian style and with Art Deco reminiscences that permeates numerous pavilions in this key exhibition for the history of the city and a fundamental building in the city's architecture..
On the other hand, Alés has thanked “to the prestigious architect for knowing how to capture like no one else this place that is the emblem of Seville for a fundamental celebration for the soul and life of every Sevillian. With albero on our feet our youth grew and we lived some of the best moments of our lives, as well as the delegation of Major Festivals for their efforts in organizing a Festival of 2025 which will be unforgettable and thanks to all the Sevillians for making this Seville Festival their own, which will bloom again in spring”.
In the same way, Alés has stressed that “thanks to the openness of ideas in the Rules of the Cover Contest, It has been possible to present and choose this design chosen by the jury of experts and based on the Chile Pavilion, which is not in a regionalist style like most of the buildings in the exhibition, but it is classified as avant-garde framed in Art Deco. This aspect of stylistic change gives the cover dynamism and greater differentiation and particularity in its designs.”, the delegate has finished.
The Chilean pavilion
The cover is inspired by the Chile Pavilion of the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, emblematic work that stood out for its neo-pre-Columbian style design with innovative and avant-garde influences of Art Deco. Granted as a symbolic representation of Chilean identity and culture, This pavilion became a focal point of interest during the international event.
The Pavilion was built of concrete with a tower of 50 meters and which is reflected by two in the design of the Cover. It is therefore the largest in surface area of those built by the countries participating in said exhibition., and which today houses the School of Art and Higher Design of the Junta de Andalucía.
As the author has pointed out, Pablo Escudero, “The composition of the façade is distinguished by an impressive central arch inspired by one of the windows and the interior lobby of the building., leaving the whole framed by a variety of volumes and shapes, giving rise to the two imposing and very recognizable side towers”.
